Woman Arrested at Applebee’s After Demanding High Chairs for Twins

Here’s a weird one – a woman was arrested in an Ohio Applebee after being checked off at the restaurant, refused to give her 2 high chairs for 2 babies … and she broadcast the encounter live.
Shannel Malcolm broke the record when she and her family – made up of 5 people in total – reportedly struggled on Sunday night from the staff … all because, she says, she wanted 2 high chairs for her 1 year old twins year. Sounds like a simple request, right?
Well, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department told TMZ … Applebee told responding MPs that they refused Shannel the high chairs because she wanted them at a stall, which the restaurant said. , would cause a fire hazard.
So the cops say the staff told them they offered to set him up at another table that could safely accommodate the 2 high chairs … but it doesn’t look like it went well.
The Sheriff’s Department says they tried to calm Shannel, who they said was acting unruly and not cooperating. There is no proof in the video she posted … in fact, she was glowing at the cops. However, they ended up arresting him after the cops tried to fix the issue by simply giving him a summons to court.
She was convicted of disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice, and released later that evening.
One more thing about it … in her disbelief at the situation, Shannel – who is Black – mentions that 2020 is “real” and her eyes are “open” in light of it. It’s unclear if she was implying racism was at play here … but if so, she never says so explicitly.
Now, there is a growing movement to boycott the Applebee over the course of the episode. We also contacted the restaurant for further clarification … so far no word in return
Our sincere thanks to
