Why You Need The New Touch n’ Go Card

Have you ever wished you could top up your Touch ‘n Go card anytime you wanted? Well, your wish has been granted.

The Touch n’ Go Group (“TNG”) recently announced the launch of the new and improved Touch ‘n Go card, which can now be topped up anytime and anywhere through the use of the TNG app. eWallet. Top-ups made using the app will incur no surcharge, eliminating the need for users to go out of their way to top up their credit.

The new cards with a minimalist design benefit from higher encryption for better security. This in addition to being tied to a TNG eWallet account, adding an extra layer of security.

“We are delighted to be able to bring this to market, solving the most common problem for users of our cards: the inconvenience associated with reloading. With this enhanced card offering, our users can now choose to get a card that they can top up anytime and anywhere from their Touch ‘n Go eWallet app on their mobile phone. There will also be no top-up charges levied for using this service,” said Effendy Shahul Hamid, CEO of Touch ‘n Go Group.

The new cards are available for purchase at RM10, exactly the same price as the old Touch ‘n Go cards. You can pick them up at selected outlets nationwide. Alternatively, you can also order the cards online through the TNG app and have them shipped to your doorstep.

Upon receipt of the new card, users can link it to their TNG eWallet account. It is a simple process. For NFC-enabled smartphones, users will only need to hold the card on the back of the phone for five seconds to activate the new card. Alternatively, users can manually link the card by opening their TNG eWallet app, selecting the “TNG Card” option and adding the card from there. Once linked, users can check the card’s balance and top it up as they see fit. The feature is currently available for iOS and Android devices, and users can link up to 5 Touch ‘n Go cards to their Touch ‘n Go e-wallet.

According to Effendy, demand for the new cards is expected to be high. With the world still facing a global shortage of chips, this demand is expected to even exceed supply. If out of stock, users are advised to signal their interest in obtaining the new cards through the TNG eWallet app. Users will then be notified when other cards are available for purchase.

Similar to current cards, the upgraded TNG card can be used for cashless payments in all use cases, including toll roads, public transport services and over 700 car parks in Peninsular Malaysia.
