We Visited Lazada’s New O2O Pop-Up At Raffles City
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, more Singaporeans have been shopping online and e-commerce has flourished.
However, with the economy gradually reopening, businesses have stepped up the pace to bring customers back to their physical stores, especially as shoppers move more to malls.
Additionally, the online market has become so saturated that consumers are overwhelmed with the amount of choice available.
This has led many buyers to hope for a more organized experience that will allow them to make more informed decisions.
Following this request, Lazada launched its first mega online-to-offline (O2O) shopping experience. Called Come Home To Lazada, it presents a complementary way for buyers to engage on both platforms.
We visited Raffles City’s 10,000 square foot pop-up space to experience the future of retail shopping for ourselves.
Simply scan to buy
Upon entering the showroom, we received a free gift, which is a S $ 5 voucher applicable with a minimum spend of S $ 50.
The gift was redeemable after scanning a QR code at the entrance to the pop-up space, and any member of the public who scans the code can also receive it.
We were also greeted with a reminder to download the Lazada app, as the offline and online experience is closely linked.
Each item displayed in the showroom is tagged with a QR code, which buyers can scan to purchase through the Lazada app. It was a welcome addition to the typical household product shopping experience as we could easily access all product related information.
Even if you decide not to purchase the item immediately, you can save it in the app until the next deal. The buying process is also fast and seamless, eliminating the hassle of long queues to make a purchase.
Another great thing is that we were able to walk around the showroom hands free, without having to lug around our loot.
Also, when shopping for furniture in the store, transporting home purchases has always been a problem as they are usually bulky.
With Lazada’s O2O experience, we don’t have to worry about having to lug around the items we’ve purchased or spending long periods of time arranging a delivery service.
Designed for the modern owner
Come Home to Lazada is meant to be for new, state-of-the-art homes, and we certainly weren’t disappointed.
The showroom showcases interior ideas for the homes of tomorrow, with the latest furniture and work from home items. We explored various interior themes taking into account the integration of the smart home and dedicated spaces such as a home office and a combined study room-gym.
The first room buyers can experience is the living room, which has been fully integrated with a home system and smart products. Some of the products available include the Samsung 65 ″ QLED 4K Smart TV and the ECOVACS robotic vacuum cleaner, all of which were controlled via voice commands, with help from Google Home.
Another interesting interior concept of the showcase was a study room. It is common knowledge that houses in Singapore today are much smaller, so maximizing space is crucial.
Additionally, with the rise of home working, Singaporeans are increasingly trying to improve their home work spaces.
Come Home to Lazada presents the right products to include in your home to improve comfort and productivity.
For example, the Nitro Concepts S300 gaming chair – which is made by a local brand – provides users with an ergonomic stand allowing them to work or play comfortably at an affordable price.
The space is also furnished with various exercise equipment, as well as a full-length mirror so that fitness enthusiasts can easily ensure that their shape is correct when working out.
Even the bathrooms have been tastefully designed, with little details to help the owner on their renovation journey.
For example, the hooks used in the bathroom have been attached to the walls by suction cup rather than screws, to accommodate rental owners who are unable to make modifications to their home.
Overall, the wide variety of brands on display was a good selling point and the storefront really mimicked the experience of the online marketplace. Some of the brands available include PRISM +, Nespresso, Novita, V.Hive, KitchenWare, Phillips, and Sonos.
A whole new retail experience
When businesses were severely disrupted last year due to a forced shutdown during the breaker, Lazada helped many of them pivot online so they now have a dual presence: online and offline.
The change has also had an impact on the buying behavior of consumers, who have become accustomed to the convenience of a new purchasing standard of having their purchases delivered right to their doorstep.
As first-time owners, we have found that the Come Home to Lazada event has helped us to
visualize what a smart home could look like, knowing where to buy each item on the spot.
Additionally, it also reduces anxiety about large online purchases, as we were able to physically feel them and test them in person – this is especially relevant for items like electronics and expensive furniture like sofas and tables. to eat.
