Wawona Peaches Linked to Salmonella Outbreak
August 20, 2020 – A salmonella outbreak that has sickened 68 people in nine states could be linked to Wawona-branded bagged peaches sold in ALDI stores, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Wednesday.
The peaches were in clear 2-pound plastic bags at ALDI stores in several states from June 1 until today. ALDI recalled the peaches on August 19.
Consumers, restaurants and retailers should not eat, sell or serve these peaches, the FDA said. Consumers who have bought the peaches and still have them in their homes should throw them out. This includes frozen peaches.
It is also important to thoroughly clean and disinfect all surfaces and containers that may have come in contact with peaches, including cutting boards, slicers, counters, refrigerators, and storage bins.
