Valorant Aiming To Be the Next Esports Sensation
Valorant Aiming To Be the Next Esports Sensation: Riot has a new tactical shooting video game called Valorant. The game is currently in the closed beta stage of development. The final version will not be available until the second or third quarter of 2020.
But Valorant has been growing in popularity on the streaming platform Twitch. The game has become one of the hottest ones to watch on Twitch. Many streamers have even shared access keys to the beta with many people while playing.
Valorant arrives as many other games have become hits in the esports industry. The increased competition between Fortnite, Call of Duty, Overwatch, Rocket League, and League of Legends (which Riot also created) is evident through the increasingly popular tournaments and streams. Valorant is aiming to become the next esports title.
How Valorant Works
Valorant is a multiplayer game that entails two teams with five players each. Each player is an agent who has unique abilities and can purchase unique weapons and additional powers.
One team is the attacking team. It has a bomb called the Spike that needs to be planted at one spot. The attacking team will earn a point if they protect the bomb, and it detonates in the target area. The defending team receives a point if they defuse the bomb or the 100-second timer expires. A team can also score a point if it successfully eliminates all its opponents.
Each game lasts up to 25 rounds, with each round lasting 100 seconds. Whoever wins the best-of-25 series is the winner, so a team needs to win 13 rounds.
The characters that players control in Valorant are Agents. These figures have unique abilities, and they can get additional powers that they purchase either before rounds or after they eliminate their opponents. There are ten agents in the beta right now, although more will probably appear later.
The game is a free-to-play program and uses a first-person interface. The game also uses Unreal Engine 4, a platform engine developed by Epic.
The game is currently only available on the Microsoft Windows platform. Additional platforms are expected to support the game in the future.
Different From Battle Royales
The most noteworthy part of Valorant that makes it famous on Twitch is that it is not a battle royale game. Games like Fortnite and Apex Legends are highly popular, but there is a possibility that people might be looking for something else.
The team-based approach of Valorant makes it attractive to players. There is also a strong Counter-Strike feel to the game. Players need to have a good aim and quick reflexes to succeed.
Available For Many
People looking to play Valorant can visit beta.playvalorant.com and get a Riot account. The user must then link the account with a Twitch account that streams Valorant.
Valorant is capable of operating on many computers. A user will need 4 GB RAM and 1 GB of VRAM. An Intel HD 3000 GPU is the lowest that a user can play Valorant with, thus making the game more accessible. But the framerate will vary from 30 to 144 frames per second, depending on the hardware one uses.
