4:08 p.m. PT – POTUS is back at the White House and made sure to let the cameras see him remove his mask when he arrives … and stuff it in his pocket.
It’s a questionable decision for sure, as it appears there are several photographers and staff standing near him on WH’s balcony … and he’s probably still contagious.
3:49 p.m. PT – Trump just stepped out of Walter Reed’s front doors, patting the handrails as he walked to a vehicle to take him aboard Marine One … and continue driving home White.
The president raised his thumb and said “thank you” as he left the hospital, but ignored a reporter’s question as to whether he thought he was a super-spreader of the coronavirus.
President Trump says he is preparing to leave the hospital and even tells Americans that there is no reason to be afraid of COVID-19 … despite the fact that he was not treated like a typical patient.
POTUS says he will be leaving Walter Reed Medical Center at 6:30 p.m. ET. At the hospital, he is receiving treatment around the clock, while a team of a dozen doctors is helping him fight COVID-19.
The odd part of the president’s tweet was his suggestion that there was nothing to fear from the coronavirus … which has killed more than 200,000 Americans.
Trump said: “I feel really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it rule your life.” He says his administration has developed excellent “drugs and knowledge” on fighting the virus, adding … “I feel better than 20 years ago!”
If the president’s condition has improved so much, it is good for him – however, his statement ignores the fact that he has received and will continue to receive treatment far beyond what the average American would get. ‘he was due to be hospitalized for COVID-19. Remember, the Prez even had an experimental cocktail of antibodies that isn’t even available to the general public.
Not a big message from the president … who just yesterday claimed to have finally learned a lot about the disease which has been a deadly scourge for Americans for more than 6 months now. His own doctor, Dr. Sean Conley, declined to comment on Trump’s tweet.
We now know that Trump has been given supplemental oxygen at least twice in the past three days – and that he has been placed on a number of drugs, including Remdesivir and dexamethasone … among others.
Here is the big deal and the most suspicious thing about these media briefings. Dr Sean Conley mentioned some drugs and therapies the President was receiving, but when it came to lung damage and other potential complications, the doctor invoked HIPAA. Why is the doctor so willing to talk about treatment when the President responds well, but when asked about possible serious issues, he invokes HIPAA … which we frankly have never heard from a President before.
It is not known exactly what will be done at the White House to protect staff members from a potentially contagious COVID-19 patient. Doctors say they will not approve his return to the election campaign until there is any trace of the virus living in his system.
They also say he will receive the same top-notch, 24-hour medical treatment he received. Hopefully the same is true for the growing number of people around the president who have been exposed to the virus.
