The fireworks started early in Maryland this weekend – a good chunk of their stash went up in flames (and booms) long before the sun set… just at ground level, no less.
A truck carrying a ton of fireworks in Ocean City accidentally exploded Sunday morning, causing passers-by in the area to panic… but ultimately serving as an early indicator of what was to come. Seriously, it was like full-fledged fireworks in the sand.
Of the incident, the Ocean City Fire Department said… “There was an unintentional discharge of fireworks that were being set up on the beach for the fire show. artifice of the city. ” They added, “During the involuntary discharge, employees of the fireworks company were slightly injured and refused transport to hospital by Ocean City paramedics.”
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured … but it could have turned sour quickly. In fact, it looks strangely like another the detonation went wrong here in LA since last week – when the LAPD clearance team tried to safely dispose of thousands of pounds of illegal fireworks they had confiscated… but ended up sending shock waves through a southern district instead.
This goes to show that when playing with fireworks (regardless of intention) things will definitely blow up. Stay safe, all of you … Happy 4th !!!
