The jury in the Ahmaud Arbery the case looks more like the accused murderers than the victim, pigment-wise, anyway – but that won’t automatically affect the verdict, according to Chile by TLC.
We have Rozonda Thomas – alias Chilli – to LAX and asked him to express his outrage at the racial makeup of the jury … namely, the fact that 11 whites and one black were selected to hear testimony in the murder trial, which comes from start on Monday.
The obvious assumption fueling the outcry is that white jurors might have an inherent racial bias and end up siding with the accused father and son, Gregory and Travis McMichael, based on nothing more than skin color.
Of course, this is NOT inevitable – despite many taking the leap – and Chilli echoes this, saying that we have to assume that jurors (black or white) are reasonable people who seek truth and justice. .
Check out her reasoning … Chilli is optimistic and sees hope for the best in people, a mindset that she applies to this case. Naturally, many people are more cynical, but Chilli encourages people to have faith in humanity.
The point is … IF racing does end up playing a role in McMichael’s trial, unfortunately this wouldn’t be the first time this has happened – but Chilli opts for a half-full glass POV, at least at the start of this trial. .
