Addison rae is either the newest UFC live event reporter or trolls hard – or maybe both … because she’s touting what appears to be a new on-camera gig, which has pissed off many college students in journalism.
The TikTok star posted photos of herself at what appears to be a UFC event – possibly a teaser from Saturday’s UFC 264, where Mcgregor and Pear tree are about to clash – but it’s unclear where or for what exactly. Either way, Addison looked like she had been hired.
As she posed all dolled up on the red carpet with a UFC tarp behind her, she wrote… “I studied broadcast journalism in college for 3 whole months to prepare for this moment.”
Certainly an ironic legend, we’re sure… or at least that’s what it seems. Addison seems to be mocking the fact that she dropped out of LSU – where she reportedly studied journalism – to pursue her career in social media (which was obviously a good idea).
Even though she thought it was funny … a lot of people online didn’t. Twitter users piled on her (numerically) for what they saw as an unfair and unwarranted HR decision by the UFC… assuming she was actually on their payroll. They suggested that Addison didn’t deserve, as opposed to a journalism student who toiled for 4 years for a real degree.
One guy wrote: “Should we hire someone who broke their ass in college, really loves UFC and is hungry for a journalism opportunity? No let’s hire Addison Rae because she’s popular for ‘throwing it’ back on tik tok. ”Funny stuff, definitely.
Having said that, we have to ask ourselves… are people overreacting here ??? Yes, although it may appear that the RA has little or no experience in the field, and may not be as qualified or trained as others who have studied this at the university level – the truth is that the UFC probably doesn’t care.
At the end of the day, the company is in the entertainment business – and if bringing in Addison as a host helps them grab attention and sell PPV purchases for their product… they’ll do it !!! And, besides … a hosting job like this really doesn’t take a lot of study anyway. 🤷🏽♂️
If she got a desk job at the NYT or something, we’d have outrage – but for something as frivolous as this… it’s nothing but rolling eyes for angry future journalists. .
