Tesla sets up 3 charging points in S’pore’s Orchard, to add more soon

Electric car maker Tesla has installed three charging points at Orchard Central and plans to install more in the coming months.

The Tesla V3 compressor, which is reserved for Tesla owners, is expected to cut the charging time to 15 minutes. Normal chargers typically take several hours to fully charge.

Tesla’s charging points have been installed under a regulatory sandbox by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Transport Minister S Iswaran said at a media event hosted by Sembcorp.

Mr Iswaran said the LTA launched the program this month, to accommodate technologies that are on the way to being included in Singapore’s national pricing standard.

He added that LTA has engaged companies to submit specific sandbox applications for assessment on a case-by-case basis.
