Taylor Swift can make a run at an EGOT, as she’s apparently aiming for an Oscar this awards season…all over her short, which qualifies.
The singer’s 14-minute video treatment – part of a music video and film, starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien – is eligible to be nominated for an Oscar at the 95th annual next year… in the Best Live Action Short, no less, according to THR.
The outlet reports TayTay and co. are currently consulting with a company to guide the awards campaign – so yeah, it looks like they/the team behind the film actually want it to be considered.
There’s more though…THR says the short could have actually been for best picture, technically, if it had been released in 2022 – but because it was released in late 2021, it misses that window…although, Best Shorts are still in play. “ATW” screened at an AMC theater in Lincoln Square for a week straight last year, and because of that…it may get a nod.
Taylor could also be up for another Oscar nomination, potentially, because of an original song she did for “Where the Crawdads Sing” — but time will tell if she gets there.
Still, this is just the latest signal that TS is turning to movies. Remember she made a whole Questions and answers at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year to talk about “Too Good”… and she’s also starring in some serious movies in the works — stuff where her chops will be tested.
She’s already proven herself to be a useful director…and soon, she could be one hell of an Oscar winner if everything falls into place for her. Talk about closing the loop in showbiz!
