Narrative
A stray dog is lucky to be alive after finding himself in less than familiar surroundings… stuck in a gorilla enclosure at the San Diego Zoo.
Officials say the dog somehow wandered into the gorilla habitat on Sunday, after sneaking inside the San Diego Zoo’s safari park – you can feel the crowd’s anxiety as they watch, desperately trying to get the dog out and to safety.
The gorillas chase the pup at times, but keep their distance in an intense stare during others…one thing is certain: the dog is terrified.
The good news? …zoo staff ended up moving the gorilla so San Diego County Humane Society officers could safely get the dog in and out.
Humanitarian worker Brandt, who was part of the rescue at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, checks on the shepherd this morning. He is doing well. We hope its owner will show up at our Escondido campus. For now, we call him Mighty Joe Young. pic.twitter.com/cDnCQpuUZR

While authorities have yet to find an owner for the pup, he is believed to have been given the shelter name “Mighty Joe Young” and the Humane Society hopes his owner will come and bring him home.
So while a dog is a man’s best friend, it seems he still has some work to do around the gorillas.
