Stephane Dorff came out against Marvel and its latest big-screen offering, “Black Widow,” as well as its lead star in Scarlett johansson … for whom he says he has pity.
The veteran actor directly criticized ScarJo’s latest film in an interview with the UK independent outlet… saying, in part, “I always hunt good shit because I don’t want to be in Black Widow. garbage to me. It sounds like a bad video game. I’m embarrassed for these people. I’m embarrassed for Scarlett! ” Tell us how you really feel!
Steve added this for good measure… “I’m sure she got paid five, seven million dollars, but I’m embarrassed for her. I don’t want to be in these movies. I really don’t want to. I’ll find this. young director who will be next [Stanley] Kubrick and I will act for him instead. “
SD continued with his rant, broadening the scope to include the film industry as a whole – which he called a “great game show” – but his main gripe seems to be what he sees as selling to the big studios. . and maintain a sense of artistic integrity.
It’s interesting from Steve… to see how he’s been himself in superhero movies – including Marvel fan, “Blade” – but also another superhero movie that many considered. like “garbage” … his appearance in 2015 in “American Hero”, which sounded like a farce of the genre.
One could argue – as many online are now – that Stephen’s other movie credits aren’t necessarily Kubrick-esque, either. He’s starred in a bunch of movies that some might consider upbeat and not so artistic (aka, the B movies)… including “Felon”, “Carjacked” and many more.
But, when it comes to Marvel … that’s where he draws the line. And you, boo boo! 🤷🏽♂️
