Gregg Popovitch gave a speech at Jay Z‘s summit on social justice this weekend – once again making its positions clear on the issue in a catchy speech.
The Spurs coach was in New York on Saturday, where Roc Nation hosted the event and honored the lawyer Barry Scheck with an award for his work on the Innocence Project…which helps exonerate those wrongfully convicted around the country.
Check out Pop’s address here…he sounds just as passionate as ever when he talks about this stuff. He talks about what he sees as the state of America and its persistent racism – something he says he always knew existed, but never to the extent that was revealed by RN or Scheck’s advocacy .
He goes on to praise the Innocence Project for the number of individuals they have been able to get out of prison – more than 375, he says – which received a round of applause.
This is an important question, and it’s cool to see GP so excited about it. You can tell those things are a priority for him these days – that is, when he’s not in the middle of a game.
And congratulations, Mr. Scheck.
Our sincere thanks to
