S’poreans, PRs To Get Digital Push Notifications On Passport, IC Matters
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has partnered with GovTech to launch a new digital service to send notifications on ID card and passport matters starting September 1.
Recipients must first have a registered SingPass account. Notifications will be sent either to their SingPass mobile app or as an SMS to their mobile number.
As such, Singapore residents should ensure that their contact details in SingPass are updated in order to receive these digital push notifications.
Upon receipt of the notification, they can click on the link to be directed to the ICA website to begin their transactions or check the status of their claims.
Notifications concern matters such as passport and ID card application or renewal, and reminders for document collection from the ICA.
Currently, ICA sends out these notifications in the form of printed letters and / or email notifications. Singapore residents can also log into MyICA to check the status of these transactions.
The ICA website also allows users to log in and check the status of these transactions.
Singapore residents who do not have a SingPass account will continue to receive paper letters or emails (if they have registered an email address with the ICA).
According to the ICA, this new push service enables Singapore residents to receive notifications more directly and quickly, and allows them to conveniently proceed to perform necessary follow-ups.
He added that more digital push notification services for other ICA products and services will be rolled out gradually.
