S’pore Startup Noah Offers Online Male Health Services

A fear of erectile dysfunction (ED) left Sean Low extremely shocked and confused, and he did what anyone else would – check Google.

He told Vulcan Post that he was so convinced he had erectile dysfunction that he started looking for treatment options and clinics.

It wasn’t until he found the courage to talk to a doctor friend that he found out that, in fact, he didn’t have erectile dysfunction.

His experience made him realize that there was a general lack of understanding and conversation around common male health problems, and that there was a need to find a “more low-key, affordable and convenient alternative to getting treatment for men. very sensitive conditions ”.

This prompted him to start Noah – a low-key digital men’s clinic – with his co-founder Ethel Tan.

Healthcare is a continuously growing industry, and men’s health is a big part of it as well.

Currently, Noah’s services can be restricted specifically to erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and hair loss. The founders believe that while these conditions prevail, they are often overlooked.

“We want to help men overcome these ailments in a safe and non-judgmental space,” Sean said.

Embarrassment is the “number one problem” among men around the world, he says.

Having to answer tough personal questions about your body, health, and sex organs can put them in a strange situation, even when the conversation is with a doctor.

Therefore, they wanted Noah to create a comprehensive assessment modeled after what a doctor would ask for in an in-person consultation, and position it as an online medical assessment.

A doctor will then contact the patient to follow up on their assessment. By then, the difficult questions would have already been answered, making the interaction more comfortable.

If a prescription is needed, Noah will also deliver a patient’s medication to them for free within four hours.

Ethel added that the drug comes in an “indefinable package,” and even the billing is discreet.

“There will never be drug billing on patients’ credit card bills,” Ethel said.

Patients also benefit from free follow-up with Noah’s doctors to refine their treatment plans.

Sean and Ethel are both deeply passionate about healthcare.

When Noah started, the two founders personally delivered prescriptions to patients’ homes.

Their practical involvement led them to “rush between meetings to get the drugs delivered within the four hour delivery time.”

Even though the startup has now hired vendors, Sean shared that Noah’s team of eight staff members are extremely committed to their patients and share the same passion for health.

Health has always been at the forefront of what I do. This is what prompted me to take on the role of a part-time spinning instructor, in the hopes of encouraging others to lead healthier and better lives.

But health isn’t all about exercising and staying active. For me, that sums up our overall well-being, from mental to physical, and sometimes sexual health as well.

The same goes for Sean. Noting the shift from in-person to online healthcare – especially during a pandemic – is what prompted him to launch Noah.

Prior to Noah, he had the opportunity to be part of Bare, an Australian end-of-life service technology startup based in Melbourne.

The startup was founded during Breaker in May of this year, and went from idea to launch in just six weeks.

At first, they focused only on erectile dysfunction before expanding to include other widespread but very sensitive conditions.

We do not seek to complement existing service models. There will always be people who prefer in-person consultations, and that’s where physical clinics come in.

With Noah, our role in health care for the nation is different. We realized there was a need to create a discourse on these common male health issues and own the conversation around them.

The duo also created Ordinary Folk, an initiative to address the lack of understanding not only about healthcare, but other taboo topics as well.

Ethel shared that it started as a passionate project, but has now grown to include an instazine and a podcast.

In addition, in just two months, the business has tripled and its growth is steadily increasing at a rate of 50% per month.

One of the success considerations would be reviews from our patients, this is a testament to our hard work.

We started with a mission to provide an alternative method of getting treatment for these very sensitive conditions, and I think we’ve proven that we’ve improved accessibility for Singaporean men.

Noah was also successful in raising a “sufficient amount” during a pre-seed cycle, which “helped take the business to the next level.”

Currently, Noah has over 6,000 users on the platform.

According to Ethel, the startup’s goal is to be a “mainstay of Singaporean lives,” and they hope to expand their offerings to include more terms to help as many people as possible.

Sean added that “it’s a known secret that Asian men don’t usually talk about their own health.”

Therefore, the duo want to do more to combat these behaviors in the Asian community.

From there, they can continue to provide good value and services, while shifting the stigma to very sensitive conditions.

The ultimate goal of the startup is to ultimately be the insured health partner who supports patients through treatment for conditions often linked to social stigma.

“We hope Noah can be a household name, almost a safe haven, for men to come in for treatment,” Ethel said.
