Country singer’s husband Sarah Evans will not spend time behind bars in his domestic violence case… TMZ has learned.
The Nashville District Attorney’s Office tells us… Jay Barker, a former Univ. of the Alabama quarterback, ended up accepting a “best interests plea” in which he pleaded for a felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon to a misdemeanor of reckless endangerment.
As noted, Jay has been arrested in January for allegedly trying to slam his car into the car Sara was in.
Cops say Sara told them she was in the passenger seat of a friend’s car, leaving a party when she saw Jay pull into her car in reverse, trying to hit them.
Sara and her friend got lucky, though…cops say Jay missed his suspected target.
Court documents show Jay was placed on probation as part of his plea deal…and we’re told he must keep his nose clean, give up all weapons and complete a 26-year abuser intervention program weeks.
Jay, who was drafted in 1995 by the Green Bay Packers before joining the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers, is still married to Sarah … but they are separated.
