11:35 a.m. PST – Sherman finally opens up about the incident, saying he has “deep remorse” for his actions.
“I behaved in a way that I’m not proud of,” the NFL star said Friday. “I have faced personal challenges over the past few months, but that is no excuse for the way I have acted.”
“The importance of mental and emotional health is extremely real and I am committed to getting the help I need. I appreciate everyone who has reached out for me and my family, including our community. here in Seattle. “
Sherman added, “I am grateful to have such an amazing wife, family and support system to build on during this time.”
Prosecutors just knocked Richard sherman with five counts – including DUI and criminal trespassing – after he allegedly merged into his in-laws’ home on Wednesday morning.
Officials just made the announcement, explaining that the five counts are misdemeanors.
They also said they expected Sherman to appear in court for an arraignment hearing later Friday and plead not guilty to the charges.
The five charges against Sherman are as follows, according to prosecutors:
-Drive under the influence
– Reckless endangerment of road workers
-Second degree criminal trespassing – domestic violence
– Third-degree malicious mischief – domestic violence
As we previously reported, Sherman is charged with driving while intoxicated, crashing his car, and then explode at his in-laws at home in Redmond, Washington just after midnight on Wednesday.
Police say Sherman attempted to violently break into his wife’s parents’ house … and after cops confront him at the scene – they say he became uncooperative and started fighting them .
Cops say they finally managed to shoot him down with the help of a police K9 … and put him in jail, where Sherman ultimately spent almost 2 days.
The 33-year-old NFL star was finally released without deposit Thursday at the end of the afternoon.
