‘RHONY’ Producers Plan to Diversify Cast For Upcoming Season
The “Real Housewives of New York” are going to be a little different this coming season … we’ve learned that producers want to feature more than rich, white women.
Production sources tell TMZ … “RHONY” is looking to diversify the current all-white cast for Season 13, and producers are actively researching and chatting with potential new faces.
There are already a few openings, which in theory facilitates the diversification of the cast … Dorinda Medley announced on Monday that she was leaving the show, after Tinsley Mortimer outside.
Our sources say Dorinda was not fired and her departure was a mutual decision that had already been discussed before she and Bravo finally pulled the trigger.
We are told rumors about Ali Wentworth, woman of George stephanopoulos, potentially joining ‘RHONY’ is NOT true … there is no discussion about her coming on board and she is not in the running to join the show.
The point is … Ali wouldn’t add any diversity to a cast that was nothing but white women in season 12.
Here too, the producers are against the clock … we are told that “RHONY” should start filming in the fall.
