Rebel Wilson Reacts to Australian Newspaper’s Attempt to ‘Out’ Her

Rebel WilsonHer exit announcement is under a microscope because of what was going on in BTS…including a newspaper’s attempt to force her to comment ahead of time.

The Australian actress — who just revealed she’s in a relationship with a woman – replied to an outraged reporter from Down Under, who couldn’t believe what the Sydney Morning Herald seemed to admit… namely, that they had RW over a barrel with the story.

The reporter wrote, “So apparently it wasn’t @RebelWilson’s choice to come out… @smh/@theage admitted to giving her 2 days notice that they were going to ‘out’ her.” She notes that openly gay men who work at SMH were also involved.

To this, Rebel replied… “Thank you for your feedback, it was a very difficult situation but I was trying to handle it with grace ❤️” In other words, she seems to confirm this perception of an attempt by the go out publicly, before she was ready to do it herself.

The article in question – which details what happened in the process of trying to confirm the relationship – seems somewhat angry that Rebel evaded their questions, which they say they made 2 days ago. forward, and picked them up herself.

The author writes of the decision to ask his team for comment…”Big mistake. Wilson chose to look at the story”, adding…”Given the bitterness with which Wilson had complaint of poor standards of journalism when she successfully sued Woman’s Day for defamation, her choice to ignore our quiet, genuine and honest questions was, in our view, disappointing.”

As a result, many accused the outlet of trying to get Rebel out…but one of their editors, Bevan Shieldsdenied this characterization in a follow-up article – offering more context.

He says, “[W]The questions were simply asked and, as standard practice, they included a response time. I had made no decision as to whether or what to publish, and the Herald’s decision on what to do would have been informed by any response Wilson provided.”
