TMZ Sports spoke with the Southern MC after Memphis’ blowout 134-95 win over Golden State on Wednesday night … and asked his thoughts on Curry saying his game plan heading into Game 5 was, “Whoop that thing. “
“To be honest with you, I had two different feelings,” Kapone said. “One feeling was, ‘Wow, Steph Curry just said whoop that round.’ It was a feeling. Like, ‘Man, that’s pretty big.'”
“But the other side was – you can’t say that against my team. [I] was excited on one side, because it was Steph Curry. But on the other hand, you can’t use that against my team.”
Kapone – who made his banger debut in 2005 – said the Grizzlies hired him to set the record on Wednesday night … and once he saw Curry on the court he knew what he had to To do.
“I run around the pitch like I normally do,” Kapone said, “exciting the crowd, and I just happen to look up and notice — there he is right there.”
“I have to make you eat those words right now, for Memphis!!!”
Of course, the song is a big deal because of its southern roots… but also because Terrence Howard portrayed him in the hit movie “Hustle & Flow” starring Taraji P.Henson.

“I talked to Craig Brewerwho’s the writer and producer of Hustle and Flow, and we had this conversation,” Kapone said. “We’re definitely trying to make that happen.”
AK added that he’s not sure the Grizzlies will make it to Game 6 in some of his custom “Whoop That Trick” shirts, which he sells on his website, but he predicts a win for Memphis on Friday — and a series win next week.
