In March 2020, internet traffic increased by 23.5% in the first week of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The increase in traffic and the slowdown of the Internet have forced many Malaysians to use their mobile data to stay connected with family or to study and work online. Weekly mobile data usage also increased by 30% between March and early May.

As more citizens rely on mobile internet during the pandemic, Digi, one of Malaysia’s largest telecommunications operators, has decided to step up. They revamped their postpaid offerings, giving users more value and a quick and easy package, whatever their hobbies.

Here are five main points to consider in this updated package.

1. Digi’s new postpaid plans now start at RM40 / month

Digi’s new postpaid plans come with renewed pricing, starting at RM40 per month. This plan entitles you to 10 GB of mobile internet with unlimited access service, with unlimited calls to all Malaysian networks at no additional cost.

Based on a market analysis by Ookla, Digi was the fastest mobile operator in Malaysia for the 2nd half of 2020. With the brand’s new revamped All Access Internet service, you will get fast mobile Internet service without no restrictions, even on weekends, which would be optimal for those PUBG gaming sessions outside of work.

2. There are free add-ons to choose from based on your lifestyle and data needs

By signing up for Digi’s new postpaid plans, you can choose free add-ons. You will also get better deals with plans above Digi Postpaid 60.

For example, with Digi Postpaid 60, you will benefit from 25 GB of internet and unlimited calls each month. But since you started your Netflix frenzy, now you need more data. You can opt for a Additional 10 GB of Internet per month, free of charge.

Alternatively, if you are a mobile gamer who often spends monthly game passes, you can opt for the add-on which gives you a Monthly rebate RM5 on your subscriptions on EasyAdd, Google Play or App Store at no additional cost.

To note: You will need to sign a 12 or 24 month contract with Digi to be eligible for these add-ons. Alternatively, there are add-ons that you can pay for to get additional mobile data. Each user is limited to 1 add-on.

An example of the add-ons you can get from Digi

With Digi Postpaid 60 and above, you can get a Gadget SIM card for 10 RM per month, which gives you an extra SIM card for your gadgets, up to 30 RM per month discount on Digi’s fiber broadband , or a monthly discount of RM 10 for the Digi Mobile Broadband Plan.

3. Subscribe for additional family lines with a 50% reduction

Primary line users on Digi’s new postpaid plans can get additional additional lines starting at RM20 per month.

Example scenario: You are a dad of two children, so you will need a total of 4 rows. You only use the phone for internet surfing and business communications, while your wife only uses her phone for social media and YouTube videos.

As for your kids, they can be seen making fun of a new K drama or TV series or killing monsters in Genshin impact.

To get the best deals for your data-hungry kids, go for the Digi Postpaid 60 Principal plan like you can share your internet quota with your children if they need it.

Here is what you will need to pay: RM 60 for 25 GB Internet (primary), RM 20 for 10 GB Internet (additional), and two RM30 for 25 GB Internet (additional). So for a family of four you just need to pay RM140 per month.

If you activate automatic invoicing via the MyDigi app (Android and iOS), you can get 5% discount on your bill too much.

4. Get access to new phones with monthly payments

If you can’t wait to get your hands on the latest phones, Digi’s PhoneFreedom 365 gives you the option to do so, with zero upfront payments and an interest-free installment plan. Digi has also reduced the commitment for PhoneFreedom 365 from Digi Postpaid 90 to Digi Postpaid 60 as well.

You can get the iPhone 12 Pro Max through Digi for RM188 per month, but you will need to sign up for the Digi Postpaid 120 plan to qualify.

So by paying RM308 one month you will get 65 GB internet access, unlimited calling to other Malaysian numbers and a new phone. Like other Digi PhoneFreedom 365 plans, you can change phone and get a new phone in the 18th month of your payment.
