The world is on the brink of a terrible food crisis if Russia does not lift the blockade of Ukrainian Black Sea ports… so says the Ukrainian President Zelensky.
Zelensky made a televised announcement on Thursday, warning that dozens of countries could face physical food shortages as Ukraine is unable to export a huge amount of produce, including wheat, corn and grain. ‘vegetable oil.
Zelensky claims that these and many other products play a stabilizing role in the global market. And, as a result, millions of people could starve to death. For now, he says, he is currently talking to the PM Boris Johnson and other world leaders to figure out how to lift the Russian blockade.
In the post, Zelensky took a swipe at Cheese fries – saying he’s trying to make the world sing with hunger. He says, “As we search for ways to protect freedom, another person destroys it.”
Prior to Russia’s invasion in February, Ukraine reportedly exported up to 6 million tonnes of grain per month – now that number has fallen to around 1 million tonnes, which is transported through smaller ports.
