President Biden picked up on what had been interrupted for quite a while in DC – namely, POTUS was there for the Kennedy Center Honors… and welcomed them afterward.
JB hosted a reception on Sunday at the White House, attended by this year’s recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Of those who were honored – Lorne michaels, Bette Midler, Gordy Bay, Justino diaz and Joni mitchell.

There were also many other prominent figures including First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, President Nancy Pelosi, Steve Martin, David Letterman and others.
Biden – who was dressed and booted in a tuxedo, made a few remarks – highlighting each person’s contribution through their art – going down the list one by one and singing their praises. He also shouted the late Steven Sondheim, who recently passed away.

Each winner showed off their rainbow-colored ribbons that were placed around their neck, and they all stood up when asked. The entire reception lasted just under half an hour – but even so, it meant a lot to people who hadn’t seen it since 2016.
President Trump snubbed the ceremony for the first three years of his tenure – and never greeted any of the recipients after boycott threats were issued in 2017, his first year in office.
