As the East Coast grapples with the plague of the cicadas, some towns in LA grapple with their own howling nightmare … hundreds of peacocks are rampaging !!!
Gorgeous birds until they’re in your backyard provide sleepless nights for residents of LA County towns of Arcadia, Pasadena, and San Marino. If you haven’t had the pleasure … peacocks sound reliably at dawn with such a piercing noise that some neighbors have described them as tortured babies … next to a very large microphone.
Birds – which often travel in packs – are everywhere, from sidewalks and streets to backyards and rooftops… and they damage cars and yards.
They’ve been roaming towns since a couple was brought back from India in the 19th century by a wealthy man named Lucky Baudouin. It is not known exactly how many birds are currently in the region, but their numbers have increased exponentially during the pandemic.
Things are so out of hand that the neighbors have reportedly had heated arguments over how to treat the birds.
The LA County Board of Supervisors is trying to get this under control… by first writing an ordinance that would ban feeding peacocks.
Of course it could be worse … just ask President Biden as he likes those damn cicadas swarming the east coast after a hiatus of 17 years.
