Patrick Mahomes and Pregnant Fiancee Sleeping Separately Due to NFL COVID Scare
Patrick mahomes says he sleeps in a completely different room from his pregnant fiancee due to bosses fear of COVID-19 … because he understands the gravity of the situation.
“It’s something I think about every day,” said KC Chiefs star QB. “You have to think about that with her pregnancy and kinda this high risk category.”
Mahomes and his fiancée, Brittany Matthews, fair announced her pregnancy last month. This is their first child.
So, it must have been scary when the Kansas City practice team quarterback, Jordan Ta’amu – who shares the same meeting rooms with Mahomes – tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday.
And, Patrick says he was so worried about having COVID and how it might affect Brit and the baby, he avoided it around their house at all costs.
“When I got home over the weekend, I slept in another room and stayed away from her as much as possible.”
Mahomes said he relaxed those restrictions once his COVID tests came back negative … but added that the safety of his fiancee and their baby was still on his mind.
“I’m just trying to do my part just to stay away from her and social distancing whenever things like these happen,” Mahomes said.
Of course, there is a chance that Mahomes will now have to go through a similar arrangement with Matthews this week after the quarterback came in close contact with COVID-19-positive Star of the Patriots Stephon Gilmore during their game on Monday.
Cameras caught Gilmore and Mahomes fighting after KC beat New England … and Mahomes said on Wednesday he regretted the actions.
“It was a bit of a mental fault,” said Patrick.
So far, Mahomes and the rest of his Chiefs teammates have tested negative despite close contact.
Fingers crossed, it stays that way.
