Ohio driver got in serious trouble when he tried to avoid a weed attack by swallowing the green, and he’s lucky the state soldier who stopped him knows of the Heimlich .
Law enforcement tells TMZ … the crazy traffic shutdown took place in Portage County, when Trooper Charles Hoskin stopped Stephan R. Elash for speeding. Police say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt either, but that was the least of his concerns
As you can see in Hoskin’s dash cam footage from the July 3rd shutdown … he realizes that Elash is having trouble breathing so he tells him to get out to try and dislodge what is stuck in his windpipe.
After a few hits with Heimlich, the driver tries to throw up, but it still doesn’t work. That’s when Private Hoskin had to really apply force … which saved Elash’s life.
You can see the driver admitting he swallowed a gram of weed and apologizing to the policeman. EMS examined him and he was medically fine. Legally? Well, he was cited for speeding, not wearing a seatbelt – and yes, charged with a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. It’s still illegal in Ohio.
After the Elash shutdown, the Ohio State Highway Patrol issued an important, though fairly obvious, warning: “Do not try to swallow a bag of drugs before being arrested in an attempt to prevent a soldier. to find them. “
Tell that to the guys from “Super Troopers”.
