The guy who started this racist tirade on his black neighbor before being taken away by the police will remain in custody… a judge was convinced he was too dangerous to be on the streets.
Edward Cagney Mathews, the NJ man arrested for his viral racist crisis, appeared in Burlington County Superior Court on Wednesday, where the judge ruled Mathews was a high risk to the community and ordered him to stay locked up … at least for now.
The judge cited Mathews’ extensive criminal history, including 20 previous convictions with a violent conviction … siding with prosecutors who wanted Mathews to remain in custody.
Prosecutors also pointed out previous allegations that he once smeared excrement on a neighbor’s car, shot ball-bearing ammunition out the window, and punctured car tires.
Prosecutors also claim that police set up a surveillance camera in the Mathews housing estate, but claim he intentionally avoided surveillance … and they said he stepped up attacks on neighbors by throwing stones at them. cars and through the living room windows.
Mathews’ legal team wanted him to be released on certain conditions – the judge dismissed this, but noted he had 7 days to appeal.
As we first told you, Mathews neighbors were preparing for his return … but he hasn’t come back yet.
