2:34 p.m. PT – Mingo’s attorney released a statement about the arrest… claiming the NFLer is innocent.
“Mr. Mingo is the victim of a misrepresentation, and we believe this is motivated by money or other ulterior motives,” Lukas Garcia said Saturday.
“We are confident when the truth is revealed my client will be fully exonerated.”
11:35 a.m. PST – Arlington PD told TMZ Sports… “On Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 9:46 pm, the Arlington Police Department arrested Barkevious Mingo for indecency with a child – sexual contact. The initial bond was set at $ 25,000. “
“The incident stems from an investigation by the department. Mingo surrendered on his own in consultation with his lawyer. The bond was posted and he was released.”
Atlanta Falcons LB Barkevious mingo was arrested earlier this week for “indecent assault with a child” … TMZ Sports has learned.
Mingo, 30 – who was the 6th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft – was arrested on July 8 by the Arlington Police Department … and jailed in Tarrant County Jail for “indecency with a child, sexual contact, ”according to court records and law enforcement officials.
We are told that the charge is a 2nd degree felony. If convicted, a 2nd degree felony can result in up to 20 years in Texas prison.
Mingo’s bail was set at $ 25,000 … and he was released the next morning.
The details surrounding the arrest are not yet clear.
After playing at LSU, Mingo rebounded in the NFL… spending time with the Browns, Patriots, Colts, Seahawks, Texans and Bears before signing with the Falcons this year.

The Falcons provided us with a statement on Mingo’s arrest, saying … “Our organization has become aware of the allegations involving Barkevious Mingo today and is currently collecting information on this incident.”
“The Falcons take the allegations very seriously and will continue to monitor the situation. “
We have also contacted the representatives of Mingo … but so far no word in return.
