New Beirut Port Fire Forces Evacuation 5 Weeks After Deadly Blast
No one in Beirut is taking the risk this time around – a massive fire burns again in the city’s port, immediately triggering large-scale evacuations … just 5 weeks after this deadly explosion rocked the city.
The Lebanese military reportedly ordered the area to be evacuated on Thursday and the main roads to the port were closed after a massive fire ripped through what officials believe was a tire warehouse. Although authorities have said this blaze will NOT trigger another explosion, people are not buying it and the video shows hundreds of people running like hell to get out of the area.
A reporter tweeted a video showing thick black smoke filling the air and said: “Some of these buildings still have no windows after the #BeirutBlast a month ago and now they are engulfed in black smoke ( probably toxic). “
A little over a month ago, in this same area of the port, 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate had been sitting without warranty for 6 years in a warehouse and exploded. The explosion wiped out Beirut and killed more than 190 people and injured nearly 7,000 others.
The footage following the deadly explosion was gruesome … including video of a bride take wedding photos and video moments before the explosion.
