NeNe Leaks says the people who produce “Real Housewives of Atlanta” tolerate a toxic work environment plagued by racism … this according to a new lawsuit.
The former ‘RHOA’ star just filed an explosive lawsuit in federal court in Atlanta, accusing the people behind the reality show of ignoring his complaints about years of racist remarks directed by another member of the distribution. Kim Zolciak-Biermann.
In the documents, NeNe claims that Kim, who is not being prosecuted, made racist and stereotypical comments about NeNe and Kandi Burrus over several seasons … and even used the n-word in reference to NeNe and other Black Housewives in an argument.
In her lawsuit, NeNe claims she complained about Kim’s alleged comments to “RHOA” executives … but says Kim was not punished and was instead rewarded with her own spin-off series, while the complaints from NeNe forced her out of “RHOA.”
According to the documents, NeNe claims that “RHOA” executives tried to muzzle her support for the Black Lives Matter movement…keeping her away from scenes where other cast members were discussing BLM.
NeNe is suing NBCUniversal, Bravo, True Entertainment, Truly Original and Andy Cohen …claiming that they have fostered a corporate and work culture where racially insensitive and inappropriate behavior is tolerated, if not encouraged.
She claims the people behind ‘RHOA’ violated federal employment and anti-discrimination law … and is suing them for damages.
The timing of the trial is interesting… NeNe hinted in November that she would return to the show, provided some changes were made.
Contacted Bravo reps…so far no response.
