Nestor carbonell, the meteorologist for “The Morning Show,” says his character is the new poster for cancellation culture – and how out of hand it has gotten – which was the whole point of Season 2.
Nestor plays Yanko Flores in the Apple TV + drama, and when we saw him at LAX, he solved a little mystery about his story. Don’t worry … if you haven’t seen it yet, we won’t tell you much about it.
In short … Yanko was reporting on the famous groundhog, Punxsutawney phil, when he qualifies the little man as a “spiritual animal”. This triggers a backlash from the “awakened crowd”, his bosses get angry and the
meteorologist the meteorologist is put out to dry.
Fans wondered if Yanko’s plot made fun of the culture of annulment or its adoption – and, no offense to riding enthusiasts – but we went straight to the horse’s mouth for the answer.
Nestor tells us: “What is [Yanko] was canceled because it was a bit absurd, which is kind of the point.
Watch the clip, though… it turns out playing a guy who is shot down by the Twitterverse had a real impact on Nestor, who now sees these kinds of controversies from a slightly different perspective.
