Mike ditka says anthem kneeling protests are unpatriotic … and NFL legend tells TMZ Sports if he was successful, he would not allow protests in his new women’s football league.
The Hall of Famer is expected to be the president of the X League – a women’s football organization. which was previously known as the Legends Football League – and when we asked him if he would accept protests during the national anthem, he bluntly said no.
“If you can’t live up to our national anthem, get the hell out of the country,” Ditka said. “This is how I feel. Of course, I’m old fashioned, so I’m just going to say how I feel.”
Colin Kaepernick and others said the kneeling protests had nothing to do with the military or the flag … they continuously claimed that the protests were all aimed at raising awareness of social justice and police brutality in America.
Some high level people like Drew brees to have changed position on the anthem in light of recent events – including the death of George floyd.
But, Ditka says he sticks to his guns – claiming he sees kneeling like a slap to the red, white and blue face.
“You are not protesting against the flag and you are not protesting against this country which gave you the opportunity to make a living playing a sport you never thought of,” says Ditka. “So I don’t wanna hear all the bullshit.”
Ditka says he does NOT have the final say on the politics of the league’s national anthem – these are just his personal feelings.
As for the league itself, Ditka thinks it has HUGE potential – featuring a group of really talented female athletes who “don’t give a fuck”.
Ditka’s new league, which will feature 8 teams in major markets like Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle, is set to begin in April 2021.
“These women are pretty and beautiful and want to fuck off – we’ll see how it works!”
