Big album launches are nothing new, but Migos is redefining the big one by hitting 4 big cities – all at the same time – to promote their new record.
Quavo, Offset and Lift-off are scheduled to make a simultaneous appearance in a hologram Friday at 3 p.m. PT, to talk about “Culture III” … the highly anticipated album they just released. They will appear in full size as an interactive 4K hologram.
The group will be physically live from a studio in Atlanta, and they will be broadcast to holoportation machines in Underground Atlanta, the CyrptoArt BitBasel community in Miami, Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas, and the Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
If the hologram technology sounds familiar, it’s because it’s similar to that Diddy used in april for arrive from Miami to his son Christian combs’23rd birthday in LA
PORTL, a Los Angeles-based startup, does this for Migos… and considers it the world’s first and only single-passenger holoportation machine. It’s not cheap either – costs around $ 60,000. No big deal for Migos, but a slight over budget for the average bar mitzvah.
The big PORTL bosses say the machine Migos will be using, believe it or not, is actually a sleeker, more powerful version. The band will chat with fans from all 4 cities, talk about the new album and also play some of the tracks.
