Meal Kits From Restaurants In Klang Valley During MCO2.0

Meal kits can be a good starting point for those who don’t know what to cook or how to divide up the ingredients. It means skipping the races, especially during this pandemic.

There are meal kits like Chef ‘Up and BoxAhead with widely spread recipes, but as of 2020 we see restaurants following the trend as well.

So we’ve compiled a list of restaurants in Klang Valley that offer meal kits that let you recreate their dishes from home. This list is not exhaustive and covers those on which we could find sufficient information.

All of the kits listed below come with a set of cooking instructions that you should follow as well.

1. A pie thing

Known for its variety of sweet and savory pies, A Pie Thing at Damansara Uptown allows customers to stock up on their bulk savory pies to keep in the freezer for MCO2.0.

For those who love sweets, they deliver apple crumble pie kits that can make a fun activity to do on the weekend. All ingredients and components are packaged separately and can be frozen to maintain freshness.

2. Bonjuk & Lunch Box Cafe KL

Bonjuk & Lunch Box Cafe is a Korean restaurant with 2 chains in Setapak and Publika. Famous for their porridge, they aim to serve authentic and healthy Korean cuisine in Malaysia.

Their Bon Meal kits are available for stews, porridge, toppoki, noodles, and pork belly sets to go with any instant ramen noodles. Next day delivery is offered when placing your orders on WhatsApp.

3. Botanica + Co

Botanica + Co is a greenhouse-themed restaurant in Bangsar offering dishes made with fresh, everyday produce.

The Botanica Home Chef kit mainly offers desserts, including chocolate chip cookie kits, Valrhona chocolate pudding, and banana cakes.

For a savory option, you can get their Pizza Home Kit which includes tomato sauce and cheese with basic ingredients to make its dough. Since it doesn’t come with any toppings, you will need to source your own ingredients.

Deliveries are not available here. Instead, you are encouraged to order, pay online, and pick it up at their Alila Bangsar branch.

However, if you are unable to collect it due to the distance, it is advisable to organize a Grab or Lalamove to collect it and deliver it to you. Just be sure to let the cafe know the details of the rider.

4. Line of characters

Proud of its wood-fired grills, the Char Line of Plaza Damansara designs its menu according to individual dietary preferences.

With 10 kitchen kits to choose from in their MealBox, you are spoiled for choice here. Some options include pasta, seared snapper, steak sandwich, etc.

You will find step-by-step guides on how to cook each dish on the individual pages of MealBox. They also have video tutorials on their Instagram page.

For same day delivery, place your orders before 2 p.m. Alternatively, you can pre-order your MealBox for next day deliveries.

5. Chef Wan Cafe

Serving a variety of Asian fusion dishes, Chef Wan Cafe is a travelogue of the celebrity chef’s culinary adventures at LINC KL.

The restaurant offers 4 different pasta kits to take away or delivery. Some options you can try are wild mushroom and truffle fettuccine, spicy tuna penne, or Aglio olio seafood.

6. Feebay.Co

At Feebay.Co you will find local and western cuisines served with specialty coffee and chocolate.

They recently launched their 3 Day Survival Kit in their Publika branch with Asian and Western flavor options.

In the box, you will find salted egg yolk and pesto sauces to garnish your beef bacon or breaded chicken katsu. The kit also includes a bottle of cold brew coffee, a reusable cloth face mask and a metal straw.

7. Kanteen

You might know Kanteen if you’ve shopped at Village Grocer and opted for a quick meal there.

For their homemade kits, there are options for Asian and Western dishes like nasi lemak, grilled salmon fillet, and chicken chop.

Pre-orders will be delivered within 2-3 working days. No refund is allowed once payment has been made. For storage, meat and liquid products like sauces should be kept in the freezer, the rest can be stored in a refrigerator or pantry.

8. Little People Cafe

KL’s quaint restaurant offers hand-made pasta, best known for their pretty pink beet pasta.

Little People Cafe offers 3 meal kits for their handmade pasta dishes. Choose between their Quarantine Starter Pack, Pink Pasta Quarantine Starter Pack, and Pappardelle Advanced Quarantine Starter Pack.

The latter is accompanied by a pack of lemon butter sauce which must be consumed the same day to ensure its freshness.

9. myBurgerLab

myBurgerLab (mBL) does not need to be presented for its juicy burgers on fresh buns. They have 2 burger kits available in the form of their classic mBL pack and their salted egg goodness pack.

You can customize your meat preferences with each order, or if you prefer to make your own, you can purchase raw ingredients from their market.

Same day delivery is available as orders are prepared and shipped once you place them.

10. Myeong Dong Toppoki

Serving a variety of Korean dishes, MyeongDong Topokki allows guests to prepare their meals at home using MDT Apron. There are options to recreate their bulgogi bibimbaps, Doenjang Jjigaes, kimbaps, spicy chicken wings, etc.

In the package you will find recipes with carefully arranged ingredients for their dishes. You will need to pre-order them as it takes at least 7 days to receive your items.

11. Rebel pasta

Rebel Pasta is a neighborhood Italian restaurant in Damansara Uptown. They are known for serving freshly hand-rolled pasta, including black squid ink and matcha.

For their pasta kits, you can choose from 13 variations of pasta and sauce to recreate their pasta specialties at home. Please note that for food safety reasons, raw ingredients such as squid and onsen eggs are excluded from the kits.

12. Old Western Cowboy Steakhouse

Located in Desa Petaling, KL, The Old Western Cowboy Steakhouse offers steaks of all kinds, from chicken and lamb to traditional rib eye steaks.

In their DIY kits, you’ll find pre-marinated frozen lamb chops, Australian rib eye steaks, and chicken chops. Kits come with a choice of fries, corn or chicken nuggets.

For a less meaty option, they also have chicken bolognese kits and frozen shark fin soup.

13. VCR

With 2 branches in Pudu (Galloway) and Bangsar, VCR shows no signs of slowing down by opening 2 spin-off cafes during the MCO.

They also presented their Home Starter Pack to allow customers to recreate their one-of-a-kind VCR Grand Breakfast at home. It comes with the basic sourdough sausage and chipolata from the coffee to accompany your own eggs and other ingredients of your liking.
