Maybank Launches MAE App And Physical Debit Card

Maybank launched its MAE by Maybank2U app, along with a new physical debit card to complement the MAE e-wallet.

The MAE e-wallet was initially launched last year with a virtual debit card, but it has been revamped with a host of new features.

Datuk Abdul Farid Alias, Chairman and CEO of the Maybank Group, said: “MAE by Maybank2u was developed to be more than just a banking app; we want it to be a comprehensive platform to help our clients run their day-to-day financial affairs. Imagine it is a pocket-sized digital bank, but with a lot of cool features to help you take control of your money. “

The new MAE comes with features to help Malaysians better manage their money according to their own lifestyle.

For example, with the Expenses tool, you can automatically track all of your Maybank transactions, which are then categorized into groups like food, utilities, or shopping. And if you pay cash instead, you can add these transactions manually.

Another feature offered is Tabung, which is supposed to help users save money on a regular basis to meet specific savings goals. You can create a Tabung for yourself, or create one with your friends, which allows you to jointly save for a group goal, like a vacation.

the Tabung The tool comes with three Boosters to help you reach your savings goals:

  • Spare change – rounds up expenses and transfers the balance to Tabung.
  • Scan and save – credit savings obtained through promotions used during QR transactions.
  • Guilty pleasure – allows you to set a daily spending limit in any category. If you spend over your limit, the money will be credited (you choose the amount) to your Tabung.

In addition, the new MAE Visa debit card that complements the MAE e-wallet is said to offer competitive exchange rates. You can request the card through the MAE app, and it will be delivered to you. A card application costs RM 8 and an annual fee of RM 8.

To use the app, existing Maybank customers will simply need to go through a security check. Non-Maybank customers can also register through the app. To try MAE from Maybank2u, you can download the app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
