Matt Staffordthe wife of, Kelly stafford, apologizes for throwing a pretzel at a fan during the Rams’ game against the 49ers on Monday … calling it all a “weak moment” and adding that she was “embarrassed” by her actions.
TMZ Sports learned… the LA quarterback’s significant other was in the stands at the Rams’ Monday Night Football game in Santa Clara, when a fan behind her started talking about trash.
According to a witness, Kelly broke… by launching an altercation by throwing a soft pretzel at the man.
The witness tells us that Levi’s stadium security finally intervened… and escorted Kelly and her team away from the area to other seats in the hall.
After the game – a game in which the Rams lost 31-10 – when a fan called Stafford’s wife for not broadcasting the situation and letting things go… Kelly posted a mea culpa.
“I’m an idiot,” Kelly wrote on her social media page. “He was saying a lot of things that were aggressive towards our crew but no apologies.”
“I tried to apologize, but in the end I knew I was wrong. I will always stand up for my guy and everyone I love, but obviously I had to do it completely differently!”
Kelly continued, “I’m embarrassed too! Sorry you must have witnessed my moment of weakness!”
We contacted the Santa Clara Police Department to see if they had been called for any of this… but a spokesperson told us they were not aware of such an incident.
We have contacted security at Levi’s Stadium … so far no message back.
We also spoke to Matt’s agent … who declined to comment on the incident.
Matt and the Rams are scheduled to play the next game after their pass on Nov. 28 against the Packers in Green Bay.
Our sincere thanks to
