It’s hard to say who “wins” the war on drugs in a Colombian town that’s now completely shrouded in marijuana smoke, and all because the cops lit a huge pile of pot at the wrong time.
Puff, puff, NO pass is in full effect for the people of Bello… a suburb of Medellin, which of course is best known for another drug, but we digress. This city-wide hotboxing kicked off 2 weeks ago, when cops and troopers began seizing weed from local vendors… eventually ripping off 1.5 tons of sticky icky in the streets.
Score one for law enforcement, right? Well, on Tuesday, a genie decided to set fire to the confiscated ganja without doing a weather check. Big mistake. Huge.
When the winds changed, the pot cloud began to drift over Bello and, unsurprisingly, residents began reporting a huge smell of marijuana. It sounds funny, but the authorities should have evacuated several towers in the area, while reassuring citizens that there was no danger of fire.
Lots of positives here…no one was hurt and glaucoma rates are down. Negatives? There is a race on Funyuns!!!
