Little Girls Use Taco Bell’s Wi-Fi for School, Almost Get Taken from Mom
A Taco Bell proved essential for two little girls who briefly used her Wi-Fi for school – something that almost turned out to be tragic after the kids were nearly taken from their mothers.
A photo of two young girls sitting outside a Taco Bell in Salinas, Calif. – just outside of Monterey – recently went viral … which shows them fallen to the concrete with their laptops and phones. notebooks, as two TB employees arrive outside to talk to them. It is quite sad.
The photo elicited a two-pronged response – one group was utterly outraged at the lack of resources these children had, knowing it was the best they could do in dire straits. On the other hand, some people were worried … thinking it was neglect.
On this first part, a handful of elected officials spoke out on the photo … highlighting the digital divide within certain under-represented communities. The Elementary School District in the city of Salinas understood that the children were their students and said they were already working to remedy the situation by providing them with internet access.
As for the alleged negligence, it prompted a social assistance audit. According to members of the local community who intervened to help the family … they were almost separated by cops and CPS officials, who apparently came knocking on the door.
According to concerned citizens who monitored this, officials conducted research to see if there was any child neglect / abuse. Looks like they found Zilch and left at the end, but adding insult to injury … the family were also on the verge of being made homeless by their owner.
Fortunately, enough people have gathered resources and put them up in a hotel for now as they get back on their feet. They even started a GoFundMe for them too.
