Throughout the pandemic, we are seeing more and more people transforming into gamers, whether through board games, mobile games, or even video games, which is no surprise.
Some of the more popular games that I always see in friends’ posts are Overcooked, Valorant, Genshin Impact, etc. And of course, the infamous Among Us which went viral last year.
But not all of this was made locally, although we did notice that more local products sprang up during the pandemic. In this article, therefore, we would like to highlight some Malaysian games launched during the pandemic that may have been overlooked in the shadow of more popular global games.
Horror lovers would probably appreciate this one. The game is the first in an anthology and it features 3 children living in a low cost Malaysian apartment building, with animation illustrated in an interesting cutout style.
The game is set during the month of Hungry Ghost, and it’s a decision-based game with conversations and a storyline that centers around having a mysterious new neighbor play with you. As you play, you are bound to find scenes and interactions that feel extremely familiar to you, and without a doubt, the developers have definitely captured the authenticity of the lifestyles presented.
7PM also won the Grand Jury Award at the Level Up KL SEA Games Awards last year.

This game is for cooperation lovers. The pandemic baking mania was not limited to IRI, but is also simulated in this game, albeit in a less direct way. Instead of baking bread normally, you have to pick up some walking dough characters, mix them together until they become a big piece of dough, and toss them in an oven.
Oh, and did we mention that there are slimy enemies that will try to corrupt your dough and hurt you? So you will be faced with multiple obstacles when trying to cook too.
Bake ‘n Switch can be played cooperatively by up to 4 people, but you can also play PvP to become the best baker. Otherwise, you can always go for the standard single player mode.

It looks like this pandemic is causing more after-effects for beloved local games, and Postknight is no exception. For those who are not familiar, Postknight is a fantasy RPG game where you deliver packages like letters or even smelly socks, but you will be faced with challenges like wolves charging at you.
The current world, Prism, takes place 7 years later after the events of the first Postknight, so you don’t really have to play the first one before playing the sequel. As the game is still in development, you may encounter some bugs while playing it, such as UI sizing issues, stuck loading screens, etc.

The game follows Kiara, the main character who is able to manipulate flora and fauna to aid her on her journey.
