Legendary College Hoops Announcer Dick Vitale is officially cancer-free again, he announced on Wednesday.
Vitale said in a series of tweets that he got the good news from his doctor after a myriad of tests this week.
“Dick, you went from being in remission to being CANCER FREE,” Vitale said of what his doctor told him. “Thank you to ALL of YOU who sent me 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽”

Vitale had already beaten cancer last year, but was diagnosed with lymphoma a few months later. The 83-year-old was forced to step away from what he loves most – calling college basketball games – while he struggled.
To complicate matters further, Vitale developed a throat condition that affected his vocal cords…and the Hall of Famer demanded operation to solve the problem.

But vital clarified On Thursday, the medical battles now seem all behind him – and he is delighted.

“I only wish and pray that EVERYONE in the fight against this vicious disease can receive the message I received last night from my oncologist DR Rick Brown who is the director of oncology at Sarasota Memorial Hospital,” Vitale said.
“I will continue to follow Dr. Brown’s advice and have a positive mental attitude with strong faith and belief that good things will happen.”
