7:35 p.m. PT – After the game, Anthony Davis paid tribute to Kobe Bryant by saying, “Since the tragedy, all we wanted to do was do it for him, and we didn’t let him down.
AD continued, “I know he despises us, proud of us, Vanessa is proud of us … it means a lot to us.”
7:34 p.m. PT – Davis said it was a “hard time” – but ended with this, “He was a big brother to all of us. We made it for him.”
The COVID pandemic won’t stop the Lakers from celebrating their NBA championship – but it will delay the official victory parade a bit.
The Lakers dominated the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the NBA Finals Sunday 106-93 – ending the series 4-2. James lebron, Anthony davis and the company simplified Jimmy butlersquad.
So let’s talk about party !!!
TMZ Sports learned … LA County and City officials worked with the team’s honchos to find a safe way for the team and their legions of fans to celebrate the victory following their 17th franchise.
We are told that several ideas have been launched – including a ‘drive in’ celebration, where a limited number of vehicles would be allowed to stop at a location to cheer on the champions.
But, in the end, a “car party” didn’t seem like the right way to inclusive celebrate an achievement of this magnitude – so it was dropped.
Now we’re told everyone involved is determined to launch a huge victory parade – like the good old days – but not before county and city officials give the green light.
We’re told everyone involved is hopeful that a Lakers victory parade through the streets of Los Angeles can bring the city together in a meaningful way – especially with all that Los Angelinos have endured in the past year. . COVID stops at the death of Kobe bryant and more.
Obviously, no specific date is set at the moment – it all depends on how the pandemic unfolds.
In the meantime, the celebrations have already started inside the NBA Bubble in Orlando – where players have been allowed to bring in a limited number of family members.
Since everyone in the bubble has been tested before entry – and regularly tested once inside – there really isn’t any concern in having a massive victory party on the Disney World property … from now on !!
So stay patient LA – and stay safe – because the sooner we get over the pandemic, the sooner we can have our parade !!!
