Kim Kardashian caused a stir when she put on Marilyn Monroe‘s iconic Met Gala 2022 dress…but it did NOT cause any damage to the dress.
A recent photo circulating on social media reportedly showed the dress before and after Kim K took it out for a spin. However, a representative from Ripley’s Believe It or Not! — who bought the dress for $4.8 million in 2016 — is coming to Kim’s defense.
The rep tells us, “A written report on the condition of the dress in early 2017 states, “a number of seams are pulled and worn. This is not surprising given the fragility of the material. eyes”, among other cases of damage.
Obviously, the “before” photo was taken before Ripley even acquired the piece.
The rep tells us that since purchasing the dress, Ripley’s has exposed it around the world — a process that has also exposed the piece to potential damage.
Amanda CarpenterRipley’s vice president of publishing and licensing, who was with Kim and the dress all day at the Met, said, “From the bottom of the Met steps, where Kim donned the dress, to the top where it was returned, the dress was in the same condition it started with.”
The dress is exactly the same as the one Marilyn wore in 1962 for the president John F Kennedythe anniversary of when she sang for the Prez. Kim lost 16 pounds fit into the room afterwards first refused Permission from Ripley’s.
Kim had also received a piece of hair from Monroe, and one of the accounts accusing her of damaging the dress also said the hair was fake… that claim has also been debunked.
Kim obviously took a lot of heat for the alleged damage, but Ripley’s makes one thing clear… her enemies can back down.
