Kanye West came out, and Kid Cudi is at Rolling Loud Miami – an interesting exchange, given that the two have gone from strength to strength in recent months.
Festival organizers made the announcement on Sunday, saying that – for reasons beyond their control – Kanye will not be performing at their event later this month as one of three headliners … and in his place, Scott would step in to take the mantle.
Co-founders of Rolling Loud Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler Further tell TMZ… “We were looking forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022. We spent months working with him and his team on the performance. would produce more. This is the first time a headliner has ever been successful on our show and while we don’t take it lightly, we wish them the best.”
They add, “We can’t wait to welcome Kid Cudi as the headliner in Miami and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.”
Kid Cudi himself confirmed the news by posting the new lineup on his IG story. It’s unclear why Ye bailed out, but it’s kind of been his MO lately – you’ll remember, he also removed from Coachella last minute, no explanation. There too, they had to scramble at the last minute for a new act.
The backdrop to this latest news, of course, is the fact that Cudi officially disavowed Ye… publicly stating that their friendship is over, this after Ye criticized him for being friends with pete davidson.
He even clarified afterwards that he and Kanye still aren’t cool, despite the fact that they collaborated on a song by Pusha T‘s – which KC thinks would be the last time they worked together. So the fact that he’s the guy to fill Kanye’s shoes is almost coming full circle on all of that.
As for Ye…he’s been relatively low lately. While he was doing make an appearance for Diddy’s big moment earlier this summer – the guy hasn’t been as visible as he was at the start of the year… which we guess some might consider a good thing.
