Kemba Walker getting on the bench is not his problem, it is his trainer’s problem … so said Kenny “The Jet” Smith, who tells TMZ Sports the keeper is a Ferrari and Tom thibodeau does not know how to drive it.
The 31-year-old hooper was pulled from the Knicks’ rotation earlier this week… because he’s averaged career lows in almost every major category this season.
Once the backup Alec burks came in and scored 23 points against the Hawks on Saturday, Thibs decided to take Walker out of the starting lineup AND out of the rotation altogether.
We spoke with Smith from Kemba’s bench, given he signed a 2-year, $ 20million deal in the last offseason … and he says that doesn’t speak to Walker’s skill.
“The guy is a great offensive player and you just don’t know how to use him,” Smith told LAX. “That’s really what you’re saying. You’re not saying he can’t play.”
Smith says Thibs just doesn’t know how to use the ball … and can be helpful for a team that knows what to do with their talents.
“It’s the coach and the organization that just don’t understand the value of a guy like this, which they paid for.”
To put it in simpler terms, Smith has an analogy.
“You can have a Ferrari, but you drive it at 30 miles an hour … what’s the point ?!”
