Justin bieber left all the other artists on Spotify in the dust – taking a big step forward in attracting the most listeners of all time, which begs the question … is he heir apparent to MJ ???
The Biebs broke a record this week … raking in the most monthly listeners on Spotify in the streaming platform’s history, with a whopping 83.3 million – the first time this has been accomplished – this as his “Justice” album continues to climb the charts.
And, don’t get us started on his hit with Kid LAROI, “Stay”, which continues to rise to number one several weeks after its release. Safe to say, August has been good for JB.
BTW, as far as Justin’s Spotify leader is concerned… he’s way ahead of the rest of the pack by millions of listeners. The weekend ranks # 2 with 74.5 million monthly listeners, Ed sheeran is # 3 with 72.4. And her contemporaries are even further back … in the 1960s.
The record before that was around 82 million monthly listeners – held by Ariana Grande for quite a while. Either way, big congratulations are in order … and maybe title deeds as well. A lot of people are launching the term “Prince of Pop” right now.
There’s some controversy about it… some think he doesn’t deserve (for various weird reasons, but the numbers don’t lie) – and Justin’s longevity speaks for itself. So yeah, he might just be the modern day prince of the genre … behind the all time king, Michael, sure.
Speaking of MJ, the dude’s music continues to reach new benchmarks in its own right … more than a decade after his untimely death. “Thriller” just got 34X Platinum certified this week – yes, people are still playing this classic.
Hail to the King … and to the Prince!
