Jon Stewart blasts the Republican Party after voting “no” on a bill to extend health care coverage to veterans … and he calls out one senator in particular, saying the guy is just plain spineless.
Jon joined the Speaker of the House pelosi and a group of veterans for a powerful press conference on the PACT Act on Thursday…and he’s taking a hard swipe at GOP senators who blocked the bill with a 55-42 vote.
The House has already passed it, and if it gets the necessary 60 votes in the Senate, the bill would help those exposed to toxic combustion fireplaces and Vietnam-era veterans exposed to the deadly Agent Orange herbicide.
He begins to list ways the PACT Act could help, before a veteran sitting next to him mentions that it will stop people like him from going down dark paths, including suicide. The man was holding a sign that read “The blood of veterans is on the hands of Republicans.”
Jon then points out his frustration with the PA senator Toomeysaying he’s “not gonna hear that because he doesn’t want to sit with this man, because he’s a fucking coward”.
Toomey showed his lack of support for the bill directly on the Senate floor, saying it would create $400 billion in unrelated spending, which he called a “budget trick.”
Jon says GOP senators don’t support the troops, but they will support the war machine…referring to the massive Pentagon budgets they happily embrace.

He also made the crowd laugh, talking about them working on “Senate Hour” – calling them turtles who live to be 200 years old.
He says they don’t understand how much veterans need this bill because they live in their own world.
