Joey Chestnut is a champion of hot dog consumption again, breaking his own record for an impressive 76 sausages … something that would have been great to see, but made impossible by ESPN.
Nathan’s annual hot dog eating contest took place once again on Sunday – a July 4th tradition now – and JC was aiming for an even higher number than last year… which recorded 75, a new one. world record on time. In 2021, he passed it by one.
Joey slings the dogs in front of the camera, but when the crunch came for Hot Dogs 75 and 76… the broadcast slipped a lot, and a photo of Joey froze on screen for a good few seconds. Moments later, time had jumped … and everyone had missed it.
As unbelievable as this was an achievement for Joey, his performance was sadly overshadowed by the technical glitch… which is getting more viral than even Joey is right now. Some people captured the live stream and reposted it on the internet… and yes, it’s as bad as they claim.
Anyway … kudos to Joey for hitting the jackpot (again) and hanging on tight to the belt. It’s not an easy task, especially when you are largely responsible for lifting your stomach year after year… something he’s been doing successfully for quite a long time now.
BTW, if you’re wondering what he gobbled up in 10 minutes by the Nutrition Facts numbers – that came down to 22,800 calories, 1,368 grams of fat, 1,824 grams of carbohydrate, and 836 grams of protein. It’s been about 11 days and changes the value of the food for one person … lord.
