The decision, made Thursday by a jury in Austin, TX was for the plaintiffs scarlet lewis and Neil Heslin, which first sought $150 million in compensatory damages at the start of the trial. Punitive damages will be determined at another trial.

As we reported, Jones – who basically said the mass shooting was a hoax – was grilled during the trial… for a moment that has now gone viral, an attorney for the parents has revealed Jones’ own legal team accidentally distributed his text messagescatching Jones in an apparent lie.

Other standout moments include the judge scolding Jones for a number of things, like lying…and even chewing gum.
In their closing statements, the family’s attorneys said “talk is free, but lies must be paid for” – something that apparently resonated with the jury.
