1. I first downloaded the future application and selected a coach
After taking a simple little quiz on the Future website or app about my fitness likes, dislikes, goals, and background, Future put me in touch with 4 different trainers to choose from. Here you can read their bio for information on their past and current fitness experience to help you choose who you want to guide you on your fitness journey.
I chose my trainer Lori because I loved that she started her own elite gym focused on women’s exercise confidence and was a strength and conditioning coach and trainer for a boxing gym for all ages. I also loved that she believes in integrating holistic stress management techniques like meditation for total wellness.
A few days after signing up, expect a small gift in the mail from Future. Here you can choose from all of their trainers instead of being matched with just a few. Click on the bio of the one you love, then select “Train With” to get started. 2. After choosing my trainer, I then scheduled a meeting with her on Facetime to discuss my fitness history and goals, how I like to train, for how long, if I had any medical or health concerns. mobility, and what equipment I had access to. What’s really handy is that every exercise in your Future workout has sample videos to teach you good form with audio and visual cues to help motivate you. One of the many things I love about Future is the motivating audio message my trainer gives me at the start of every workout. She also records little tips and tricks that play out during training to keep me going and help me get in shape.
Future tip: If you feel like you need a pair of eyes on your form, you can check in doing an exercise and send it to your trainer for feedback. They will then give you advice or give you a helping hand.
During workouts, you can manually save your exercise repetitions or make changes to the suggested weights as needed. You can also suspend the application at any time if you need to drink a glass of water. Every time you complete a workout, the app records all of your stats, like your calories burned, and records them so you can track your progress. Your coach will also be notified when you have completed a workout so they can monitor your activity, give you feedback, and adjust future workouts as needed.
You can also review any completed workout and restart it at any time.
Ways to view your future workouts with the app
Since Future is currently only compatible with iOs, once the app is downloaded, you can still view your workouts directly from the app on your iPhone or iPad. You can also use “Screen Mirroring” option to stream it via AirPlay to smart TV or Mac laptop.
To AirPlay your Future workout, swipe up when you are in the app and a Control Center screen will appear. Press “Screen Mirroring” and select Apple TV or AirPlay 2 compatible smart TV you want to stream it to. Just make sure your phone and device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Follow the prompts if there are any and you should be good to go. I used my Roku and it asked for an Apple ID which appeared on my phone.
The Screen Mirroring option with Future is great if you like to train in a specific room or a dedicated space with a smart TV. I thought I would always prefer to do the workouts on my big screen TV, but I really like using my phone for my mat workouts. Like everything, see what works best for you, or mix things up like I did. Future workouts are never boring and your coach holds you responsible for moving
Your personal coach at Future isn’t just there to create an awesome fitness program for you and plan your workouts. They definitely do. But what the Future app (and your coach) does best is hold you accountable for those daily messages and reminders. It’s also someone to share your fitness performance with. My trainer Lori, is checking in with me daily to see how I am doing and to get feedback on a workout I just did. She will even ask me if I should change my schedule if I am not feeling well or if the work is getting too crazy. But no matter what happens when I hear Future’s notification in the morning, it motivates me to move. One of Future’s coolest features is the way it integrates with the Apple Watch to track things like your steps, calories burned, heart rate, and work time. With just one tap, it also lets you move on to the next exercise in your Future workout without having to reach for your phone. This can be very handy when you are exercising on the mat or when you stand up when your phone is resting on the floor. The watch is also one more thing to motivate you, as you can set movement and activity goals and then earn badges when you achieve those goals.

Final thoughts on the future app
I read a review on Future who jokingly said they kindly want you to practice. But for me, Future doesn’t feel like harassing at all.
